Movie Review: Mr. Bean’s Holiday

I wasn’t totally excited about seeing the latest adventures of Rowan Atkinson’s nearly silent comedian–I liked his television episodes (available from Netflix and other sources) and the Bean feature film was good fun but nothing I couldn’t wait to catch on video. But as my son’s school starts this week, I think he wanted both Mom and Dad to see it as the Summer’s Last Film event. So we went Sunday–and I’m glad I saw it in a theater. It was better than expected.

Reviewers had been mixed on the movie (as they usually are on most films) but either you like Mr. Bean’s form of retro-slapstick and sight gags or you don’t. Keira Knightley

Do you agree with James Christopher? Share your opinion on which films, actors and directors should be winning awards at the bottom of the page

Best Picture

There Will Be Blood: Golden Globe, and Oscar. A brilliant American parable about oil, guilt, and greed. Atonement should win the Bafta.

Harry Potter' finale to be split into two movies
The last installment in the Harry Potter movie franchise will be released in two parts--because one edit of The Deathly Hallows will leave out too much information about the boy wizard's final adventures. The sixth film in the series, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, is due for release in November, and although the characters' futures are wrapped up in just seven novels by author J.K. Rowling, fans of the movies will be given an extra treat with a double dose of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
